  • An Introduction to IIP Part 1 Introduction

(SDi is Spiral Dynamics Integral that is a further development of Professor Clare W Graves Work by Dr Don Beck, Christopher Cooke and John Cook among others. Further work by Cooke & Cook has led to the Intentional Integral Practice point of view)

Outcomes for on-line training which is equal to a 1.5 day event:

To provide a detailed introduction to Graves' Integral sufficient that all participants are engaged and striving to apply this integral approach in their lives.

To provide sufficient coverage so that when ready, participants will be able to complete a further 2 weeks program (1.5 day event) to achieve level 1 Foundation certification.

Syllabus - An Introduction (Level 1 Part 1)

    Setting the Scene

An exploration of the life conditions, time, place, circumstances, conditions and capacities, that are leading to the need for ‘new thinking.’ – the context for the Origins and Foundations of what is often known as Spiral Dynamics Integral.

Origins & Foundations – The Story of the Emergence and Continued Development of Spiral Dynamics Integral

This program offers a historical perspective of the pedigree of the lineage through:

o The pioneering work of Clare W Graves: An "Emergent, Cyclical, Double Helix Model of Adult Bio-psychosocial Development"

o The relationship to Dr Don Beck and Chris Cowan and how their involvement expanded the work to become Spiral Dynamics

o The recent developments in 1998 when Ken Wilber and Dr. Don Beck became aware of each others work and the emergence of Spiral Dynamics Integral as defined by Dr Don Beck

o The recent developments, since 2004, being offered by Christopher Cooke that places Spiral Dynamics Integral into an emerging cosmology, with fresh terminology, and a pursuit of ‘Intentional Application’, informed from what he calls the intellectual space of the ‘Open Wave’, and application through “the sweet spot of integral” a space of both “as and about integral.”

o A recognition that this is the map and not the territory. Drawing a significant distinction between Integral Theory and Thinking, and the need for continued work, and exploration, by many Gurus, Theoreticians and Practitioners.

    The Core Principles

Through a focus on the core principles of Spiral Dynamics Integral the program explores the full content spectrum of this vast point of view, whilst defining terms used later in the program, as an essential part of an emergent SDi Lexicon.

    The ‘Core Principles’ covered include:

o Human beings possess the capability to develop new ways of thinking.

o Life Conditions awaken new thinking systems which may emerge, surge, regress, or fade in response

    o Thinking systems zig-zags between Express-self and Sacrifice-self themes.

o New thinking systems emerge along the Spiral in a wave-like fashion

o Thinking systems spiral up and down through levels of complexity

o Thinking systems co-exist within our Onion Like Psychological Profiles

    Exploring the Spiral

An exploration of the species level and individual journey, of double-helix stage development through the Corridors of Time. The program offers an overview of the attributes of each stage of development. The Student will be experiencing an ‘external’ and ‘internal’ associations and representation, through reference to their own life experience and their recently completed onlinePeopleSCAN data.

The First Tier Codes and Their Respective Impact: The Survivalist Systems

o The First Level – AN – Beige Code that produces instinctive skills in the rain forest, the savanna, the bush, on the tundra, in the inner city, as well as in cases of serious deprivation and human tragedy.

o The Second Level – BO – Purple Code that creates animistic thinking, bond humans to closely-knit groups, and enriches inanimate objects with vMEMETIC meanings and magical significance.

o The Third Level – CP -- Red Code that awakens individual senses of the impulsive self while generating powerful images of aggressiveness, conquest, predator/prey relationships, and pontifications from high perches — high horses, kings of the hill, and queens of the valley, or vice versa. The Age of Fiefdoms.

o The Fourth Level – DQ – Blue Code that engenders transcendent purpose, impulse control; creates abstract causes, principles, explanations, and orders, while imposing authority-driven command structures.

o The Fifth Level – ER – Orange Code that frees the autonomous person, creates the algorithms of strategic changeability, and shifts the thinking away from fatalistic ideology to pragmatics and positivism.

o The Sixth Level – FS – Green Code that rejects authoritarian and materialistic codes while awakening the individual to inner states in a search for harmony, and external communities in a quest for peace and caring.

    2. The Second Tier Codes and Their Respective Impact: The Being Systems

o The Seventh Level – GT – Yellow code that restores human viability to a world of vMEMETIC chaos, while legitimizing and enhancing all of the vMEME codes as they produce healthy whorls along the Spiral.

o The Eighth Level – HU –Turquoise code that detects the holistic energy flows that bind everything together and permeate every aspect of the Kosmos. This code "sees" everything before "doing" anything.

Supporting the Integration of New Awareness

o The student will be guided to explore their findings in their own habitat.

o An ‘oral,’ and ‘written,’ contribution, based upon their findings, to the training cohort, will form a significant part of the programme assessment.

The student is then positioned to explore the further and fuller foundations of this point of view.

This is an outline of the topic covered in this learning journey

    Accreditation:

Participants will complete 30 hrs of training in your own time over three weeks. This enables you to learn at your own speed and become part of a learning set. It is your learning set, those who journey with you, supported by your on-line teachers that will allow you to make best use of your journey.

Successful completion of the program will result in a Foundation Certificate of Introduction which when linked to later programs, leading to full Level 1 Foundation Certification.

8 credits are required for a level one foundation certificate and this introduction will give you 3 credits. However for this introduction what is more important is your journey, your learning and the affect in you life.
